During a pivotal meeting with IEEE officials, I had the privilege of connecting with Dr. Rajeev Kumar Arora, a seasoned programmer and researcher eager to discuss his extensive career. Our discussion centered on Rajeev’s significant achievements and advancements in the rapidly evolving field of Computer Science and its applications.

With over two decades of experience in both on-premises and cloud-based HR solutions, Rajeev Kumar Arora currently works as a programmer analyst at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. His broad expertise in AI, ERP, Data Privacy, Data Security, and Regulatory Compliance. Arora’s proficiency lies in developing cohesive solutions for large and complex projects spanning multiple divisions and/or platforms.

Dr. Arora has served as a judge for several Information Technology business and academic events and excellence awards, published author, and follows creativity to express his subject expertise. He has mentored more than 2,000 enthusiasts across the globe to get them into the Information Technology space to become future thought leaders.

Our talk in the form of questions and answers are noted below: 

How do you define the significance of achievements?

Dr. Arora: A target to approach with a positive mindset and professional attitude.

What aspect of your work excites you the most?

Dr. Arora: Focus on customer satisfaction, team building, and continuous training and development. See every moment on the job as a chance to learn something new.

Do you have a personal mantra or motto?

Dr. Arora: Yes. The act of sharing knowledge not only benefits others but also deepens our own understanding and fosters collective growth.

What makes you yourself?

Dr. Arora: Maintaining a broader perspective without neglecting the smaller details.

What was your first job?

Dr. Arora: Worked as trainee with one of the top automobile car company of the country. 

What is your philosophy towards work?

Dr. Arora: Work smart, not hard.

What are some of your recent accomplishments?

Dr. Arora: Platinum winner of Titan Health, Leadership Federation Award of the year, patent granted successfully. 

Can you describe your journey to your current position?

Dr. Arora: In short, it’s been a rollercoaster. Growing up in a small town in India, reaching the USA seemed like an impossible dream. But, with my family’s support, I made it to this land of boundless opportunities and carved out a place for myself in my chosen 

What strategies do you use to stay motivated?

Dr. Arora: While coding is a passion of mine, I learn a lot from the young team members that I mentor. That energy keeps me going.

What are some goals you are still working towards?

Dr. Arora: My goal is to leverage Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence to transform HRIT and Supply Chain operations, particularly within the Healthcare and Finance sectors. I plan to implement innovative approaches such as interactive job previews, virtual interviews and assessments, 360-degree virtual onboarding and performance evaluations, and immersive learning experiences. Additionally, I aim to automate inventory management and supply chain processes. These strategies are intended to modernize traditional methods by providing prospective candidates with authentic job insights, streamlining hiring processes, offering thorough virtual onboarding, and enhancing skills training through immersive platforms. By integrating AI into HR and supply chain practices, I believe there is significant potential to enhance employee engagement and improve overall experiences, and I am eager to pursue this ambitious goal.

What is the most significant decision you’ve made?

Dr. Arora: The most significant decision I’ve made was transitioning my career focus from general software engineering to specializing in HRIT and Finance & Supply Chain systems. Motivated by my interest in the intersection of technology and people management, this shift has been truly transformative. It has given me the opportunity to explore how technology can enhance HR processes and elevate employee experiences. Embracing this new direction has enabled me to lead innovative projects, actively engage with the HR community, and drive substantial digital transformations on a global scale. This decision has not only enriched my professional journey but also highlighted its crucial role in shaping my career trajectory.

How do you define leadership?

Dr. Arora: Inspire through actions, offer guidance and support, and remain mentally strong during challenging times. 

Who has been your most influential mentor?

Dr. Arora: The manager who had the most significant impact on my professional development was my first supervisor when I started as a Software Programmer. His exceptional skills in both people management and software development were truly impressive. He taught me the value of teamwork, effective communication, and continuous learning, which profoundly influenced my perspective on leadership. His approach to problem-solving, which fostered innovative ideas and valued each team member’s contributions, greatly shaped my work style. More than just a manager, he was a mentor and coach who nurtured my curiosity, supported my personal and professional growth, and ignited my interest in HRIT and Finance & Supply Chain systems through the latest technologies of the time. His guidance was instrumental in shaping my career path, and his insights continue to inspire me.

If you had to choose one word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Dr. Arora: When asked to describe myself, I’d say “Innovative, Adaptable and flexible.” Throughout my career, I’ve faced a variety of challenges and environments, and my ability to adjust and excel in these situations has been a consistent strength. Whether it’s mastering new technologies, working with diverse teams, or handling unexpected changes, I tackle each situation with flexibility and resilience. Adapting to new circumstances helps me stay effective, find creative solutions, and maintain productivity even in dynamic settings. This trait has not only enabled me to overcome obstacles but also allowed me to seize opportunities for growth and development. As an adaptable individual, I believe I can make a positive impact on any team or organization by bringing a versatile skill set and an openness to change.

What are some questions you seek answers to?

Dr. Arora: Investigating how technological progress can elevate human quality of life compared to earlier generations. This includes exploring the potential of advanced technologies and innovative solutions to boost human welfare, with specific attention to enhancing healthcare for better well-being, refining financial management, and improving social economics for more effective food distribution to ensure everyone has adequate sustenance.

How do you approach learning and development?

Dr. Arora: I take a comprehensive approach to learning, integrating formal education, hands-on experience, and ongoing self-improvement. I actively participate in workshops, webinars, and industry conferences to keep abreast of the latest developments in healthcare IT and ERP systems. I believe in learning through practice, which enhances my problem-solving abilities.

To stay informed about new advancements, I regularly read industry publications, research papers, and books. Engaging with peers and industry experts provides me with diverse perspectives and valuable insights. Additionally, I leverage online learning platforms like Coursera and LinkedIn Learning to explore courses on emerging technologies and soft skills.

Reflective practice is essential to my growth. After completing projects, I evaluate what went well and identify areas for improvement. This self-assessment helps me reinforce lessons learned and continually advance in my profession.
