Since its founding in 2023, the MG Global Music Foundation has been redefining opportunities for young musicians. It combines world-class artistic mentorship with a mission to inspire and empower the next generation of classical talent. Led by Steinway Artist and international competition director Dr. Maxine Gong, the foundation provides an essential platform for emerging musicians, offering concert venue support, solo recital tours, and community and educational outreach.

MG Global Music Foundation also prioritizes mentorship and guidance, giving students access to esteemed artists who can support their development. The foundation has previously collaborated with prestigious piano masters, including Bruce Brubaker, Dr. Enrico Elisi, and Professor Antoinette Perry, for masterclass series that provide young artists with invaluable learning experiences and direct mentorship from some of the world’s most respected musicians.

Expanding its reach, MG Global has also launched the Artistacloud International Competition, which attracted nearly a thousand participants worldwide. This competition offers young musicians an opportunity to showcase their skills, gain exposure, and connect with mentors and peers internationally. In addition to these initiatives, MG Global is excited to announce an upcoming official collaboration with Idyllwild Arts Academy, a renowned institution dedicated to nurturing young artistic talent.

Under the guidance of esteemed advisors such as Dana Gioia, former Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, and respected USC professors—including pianist Antoinette Perry and arts leader Kenneth Foster, who directs the Graduate Arts Leadership Program—MG Global is committed to elevating its mission of nurturing well-rounded, socially conscious musicians.

One of the foundation’s recent accomplishments has been its support of 17-year-old piano prodigy Alina Duan, who embarked on a rare American concert tour. Kicking off with a triumphant debut at Irvine Barclay Theatre, Alina captivated an audience of over 700 attendees. This concert, highlighting her artistry and technical skill, also served as a platform for her to give back to her community—a value deeply embedded in MG Global’s mission. All proceeds from the concert were donated to Pacific Academy and the Bridge Horizon Foundation, supporting educational opportunities for underserved youth and families.

Alina’s program featured a sophisticated selection of works, including Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in G Major, Chopin’s Revolutionary Étude and Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat Minor, Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 18 in E-flat Major, and Tan Dun’s Eight Memories in Watercolor. Dr. Barry Tan, Piano Assistant Professor at Pepperdine University, praised her “evocative, richly colored, and deeply mature” performance, describing her technical precision and emotional depth as qualities that set her apart as a rising star.

Beyond performance opportunities, MG Global emphasizes community engagement and social responsibility, encouraging young artists to use their talents to make a positive impact. “Our mission is to offer young musicians a platform to reach their potential and foster a sense of social responsibility,” explains Dr. Gong. “We believe music has the power to transcend boundaries, enrich lives, and unite communities, and we are committed to supporting young artists like Alina on their journey to success.”

Alina’s journey will continue with an upcoming performance at USC’s prestigious Cammilleri Hall on November 15, 2024, where she will connect with audiences and expand her artistry further. Through her tour, MG Global hopes to inspire a new generation of artists who view music as a career and a means to create meaningful change.

MG Global Music Foundation stands as a transformative force in classical music with its dynamic mentorship network, innovative competition programs, and collaborative partnerships.
