Planning a trip feels more like a chore than an exciting adventure for many travelers. What starts as a desire to explore new destinations and experience local culture can quickly become a tedious process of sifting through countless websites, each offering similar, generic itineraries.

As the landscape of travel agencies continues to change, it has become clear that travelers are seeking something more unique, focusing on personalized and meaningful experiences. This insight was pivotal to the transformation of Quotatrip, which combines innovative technology with local expertise to enhance how people plan their journeys.

Quotatrip’s innovative approach to personalized travel is changing how travelers plan journeys by merging technology with local expertise. As a 2025 Global Recognition Award recipient, Quotatrip is changing sustainable travel through its subscription-based model and strategic expansion.

A New Model for Travel Customization

Quotatrip, founded in 2017 as a Petit Futé initiative, initially aimed to connect travelers with local destination management companies (DMCs) to curate unique trips. When Victor Der Megreditchian assumed leadership in 2024, he recognized the need to reposition the platform globally. One of his strategic moves was relocating the company’s headquarters from France to a more internationally connected location, not just for logistical reasons but to enhance its global presence.

A defining feature of Quotatrip is its subscription-based model for local agencies. Unlike traditional online travel agencies (OTAs) that charge commissions per booking, often between 15 and 25 percent, Quotatrip offers a subscription between 4 percent and 8 percent. According to the company, this model fosters more transparent and consistent pricing for travelers.

Our model empowers local travel experts by eliminating commission-based pressure. It is about giving them the freedom to offer genuine experiences without worrying about booking quotas,” says Der Megreditchian.

This approach addresses a persistent challenge within the tourism sector, as mass platforms prioritize volume over quality. By encouraging quality over quantity, Quotatrip supports local agencies in crafting high-quality, customized trips without the pressure of booking targets.

Technology with a Human Touch

Innovative technology is central to Quotatrip’s success. The platform’s AI-driven matching algorithm effectively connects travelers with local experts, considering budget, travel dates, and personal preferences.

Yet technology alone does not define Quotatrip’s approach. The platform’s collaboration with Petit Futé adds a human touch, leveraging over 40 years of travel industry expertise to help thoroughly vet local agencies. This partnership helps provide reliable and high-quality recommendations.

“The combination of AI with local expertise allows for a planning process that balances efficiency with thoughtful personalization,” Der Megreditchian explains.

Sustainability as a Core Principle

Sustainability remains an essential aspect of Quotatrip’s vision. The platform promotes eco-friendly agencies as travelers become more conscious of their environmental impact. Efforts include prioritizing low-emission travel options and developing carbon-conscious itineraries.

While some critics note that not all partner agencies possess formal eco-certifications, Der Megreditchian emphasizes that measurable actions are more significant than official labels. “Certification is important, but our focus is on whether the agency actively reduces its environmental footprint,” he says.

According to the Global Travel and Tourism Council, the demand for personalized travel experiences has surged 30 percent in recent years, reflecting a shift toward more customized and meaningful journeys.

Strategic Expansion for Global Reach

Relocating the company’s base was a calculated step to boost international growth. The new location offers a favorable business environment and strategic connectivity to significant travel markets across Europe, Asia, and Africa. Since the relocation, Quotatrip has seen a noticeable uptick in inquiries. Enhancements to the platform’s interface and response times may be contributing factors to this positive trend.

In 2025, Quotatrip received a prestigious Global Recognition Alliance (GRA) award for its innovative approach and commitment to personalized travel experiences. This accolade highlights the company’s dedication to enhancing travel through innovative technology and local expertise.

The integration of AI-driven itinerary creation has also proven popular. Travelers value the tailored approach, while local agencies appreciate a model that avoids commission fees.

Quotatrip’s journey from a niche platform to a global leader underscores a shift in how travelers seek experiences. As demand for personalized, meaningful travel grows, merging innovative technology with local expertise will likely become standard practice.

“Quotatrip’s innovative approach to blending technology with local expertise is reshaping how travelers experience the world,” says Alex Sterling, Chief Strategy Officer at GRA. “We are proud to support their journey as they continue to set new standards in the travel industry.”

Der Megreditchian believes that travel should prioritize personal connection and cultural immersion rather than mere convenience. “We are building a platform that respects the traveler’s desire for authenticity and the local community’s need for sustainable growth,” he says.
