Montgomery, AL – Get ready for a dazzling blend of tradition and modern artistry as Symphony Q Academy of Dance (SQAD) presents its highly anticipated 3rd Annual NutQracker Performance. Taking place from December 5-8, 2024, at the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, this reimagined holiday favorite promises to captivate audiences with breathtaking choreography, stunning costumes, and exceptional local talent.

Founded in 2020, SQAD has become a cornerstone of Montgomery’s arts community. Known for its exceptional dance training and dedication to making dance accessible for everyone, the academy offers a rich program that promotes creativity, personal development, and professional opportunities. Under the leadership of Laquangela “Quan” Serita Lester, SQAD is committed to ensuring that children of all ages, especially those from underserved communities, can experience the joy and benefits of dance.

SQAD’s NutQracker Performance is more than a show; it’s a community celebration that brings people together through the transformative power of dance. The production serves as an opportunity for young dancers to showcase their talent while gaining invaluable experience performing alongside professional artists. The academy’s focus on inclusivity and artistic excellence ensures that each performance resonates with audiences on a deeper level.

Key Performers

  • Robyne Bates, a 4-year SQAD dancer, debuts as Clara, while her mischievous brother Fritz is brought to life by Ryan Littleton.
  • Special guest Jalen Williams from the Dayton Ballet Company stars as the Cavalier, joined by Troy University’s Jordan Lewis as the Sugar Plum Fairy.
  • Other standout performers include Kelsie Williams (Dew Drop), Izaak Vilbrun (Uncle Drosselmeyer), and Sky Stracener (Spanish/Chocolate), alongside aerial silk artist Courtney Coleman (Arabian).
