“Lived experience, healthcare challenges, and ethical choices are highlighted in the Abbey Roberts RN series, a new medical thriller series.”

Some of the most important conversations in healthcare begin where clinical expertise meets the realities experienced on the front lines. With more than three decades of nursing experience spanning hospital, ICU, and trauma, public health, and long-term care, Jenny White has developed a distinctive perspective on patient care, professional challenges, and the human dimensions of healthcare. Jenny White, RN (retired), BScN, MHAdmin, Author, Speaker, TV host of Inside the Story: Confidential at Jenny White Books Inc., now channels this extensive experience into medical thriller storytelling that goes beyond entertainment to encourage meaningful conversations around nursing, patient safety, healthcare realities, and the future of medicine.

Jenny’s purpose is deeply rooted in advocating for nurses, bringing greater visibility to the challenges faced by healthcare professionals, and emphasizing the importance of human instinct, empathy, and experience as technology and artificial intelligence continue to transform the sector. Through her writing and speaking, White turns lived experience into a platform for awareness and dialogue, demonstrating how storytelling can challenge perspectives, inspire reflection, and preserve the human element of healthcare. Her journey of reinvention has further strengthened this mission, allowing her to transform personal adversity into purposeful work that serves both readers and the profession she has dedicated decades of her life to.

A Path from Nursing to Medical Storytelling

Following brain surgery in 2024, White woke from a coma unable to talk or walk. Her memories were gone, and she did not recognize her husband of 20 years. During recovery, her speech therapist suggested that she try writing to see whether the ability remained. It did.

Writing opened a door and became her way of communicating and finding a path forward. She began taking online courses that accommodated her fatigue and therapy. Her first lesson was to write about something she knew. With more than 33 years of nursing stories and the experience of waking from a coma after brain surgery, she found the foundation for medical thriller writing. For Jenny, writing became more than storytelling. It became central to how she rebuilt her life.

Jenny White distinguishes her medical thrillers through a perspective shaped by the nursing profession. Rather than approaching medical storytelling solely through the physician’s lens, she uses the viewpoint of a nurse, offering readers a broader understanding of patients and the situations surrounding them. Nurses observe the whole person, including their emotions, spiritual beliefs, family interactions, and other dimensions that influence their experiences.

Profiling Nursing As A Calling, Not Just A Profession

As a retired health professional, she is equally committed to profiling the work, challenges, and realities of nursing as a profession. In many parts of the world, nurses continue to be taken for granted, while their education and qualifications are questioned. Many also face workplace violence and difficult or unsafe working environments. White believes society must challenge and refute these realities. Nurses keep people alive, yet they remain priceless and undervalued.

She brings these concerns directly into her novels, using storytelling to challenge current conditions, raise awareness, and create uncomfortable questions that encourage ongoing dialogue. For White, if a reader finishes one of her novels asking, “Could that happen? What would I do?”, then the story has achieved something beyond entertainment. It has opened the door to conversations about the realities of healthcare that need to be discussed.

Her work now reaches readers through more than one channel. Writing, keynote speaking, and a forthcoming television platform each carry the same material from a different angle, and each draws on the years she spent in clinical settings. Her trajectory from hospital corridors to bookstore shelves to broadcast studios illustrates the expanding possibilities available to authors who write from direct professional experience.

Jenny’s goals include:

Book 2: Terror at the Manor

Book 3: The Last Consent (In Progress)

In this novel, Abbey is offered a dream opportunity to create a palliative care philosophy on a tropical island, offering luxury accommodations and activities, only to discover that her partnership with the owner is suspect in the unregulated body parts industry worldwide and implicates Abbey unknowingly by having her sign altered consents as a witness, risking her license to practice.
