Later, everyone will look to Hollywood to see if Everything, Anywhere, Whenever can cap off its incredible awards season by winning all of the Oscars.
After doing well on various occasions coming up to the award, the bizarre multiverse adventure is the frontrunner to win best picture.
Yet, All Quiet on the Western Front and The Banshees of Inisherin, among other films, are in contention.
Cate Blanchett, Austin Butler, Brendan Fraser, and Michelle Yeoh are the favorites in the acting categories.
Three acting categories were too close to determine in the 2023 awards season, making it one of the most unpredictable in recent years.
Other significant ceremonies, such as the SAG Awards, Baftas, and Golden Globes, have had different winners. Therefore, there has yet to be a consensus on who will win at the Oscars.
Who is hosting the 95th Academy Awards?
The 95th Academy Awards will be held in the Dolby Theatre in LA, with Jimmy Kimmel hosting.
The talk show host will preside over the Academy Awards for the third time. His most recent race was in 2018.
The American comedian is undoubtedly trying to forget the second time, in 2017, when the wrong best picture winner was announced, causing chaos at the ceremony.
Kimmel joked on Wednesday that the Dolby Theatre’s red carpet had changed hue for the first time since 1960.
According to THR, the decision to modify the carpet’s hue was made for practical reasons. Organizers may “transition more seamlessly from guests arriving during the day to an attractive setting in the evening” with the new one.
How to watch the Oscars
The Oscars may be broadcast live on ABC in the United States. The event is also streamed live on the network’s website and mobile app.
The Oscars will be broadcast simultaneously on four Sky channels in the United Kingdom: Sky News, Sky Arts, Sky Showcase, and Sky Cinema Oscars.
In an unusual turn of events, citizens in the United Kingdom can watch the Oscars on Freeview and Freesat. It will also be available now (formerly Now TV).
The event begins at 17:00 PT / 20:00 ET on Sunday. In the United Kingdom, it begins on Sunday and ends on Monday at midnight.
The awards are supposed to be given out over three hours; however, the presentation is always at least 30 minutes late.
Who is presenting at the Oscars?
The four acting Oscar winners from the previous year’s Oscars always returned to present the trophies to the current victors.
Three Oscar winners from 2022 are returning this year: Jessica Chastain, Ariana DeBose, and Troy Kotsur. Will Smith, meanwhile, is not present because he has been barred from attending the Oscars for the past ten years.
This year’s presenters are Harrison Ford, Nicole Kidman, Samuel L. Jackson, Dwayne Johnson, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, John Travolta, Emily Blunt, Glenn Close, Jenifer Connelly, and Florence Pugh.
It’s also worth noting that Halle Berry has been requested to speak. She is still the only person of color to have won the Award for best leading actress, but Yeoh could be the second this year.
Other presenters include Paul Dano, Andrew Garfield, Cara Delevingne, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Hudson, Jonathan Majors, Mindy Kaling, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, and Riz Ahmed.
Antonio Banderas, Elizabeth Banks, Salma Hayek Pinault, Hugh Grant, Melissa McCarthy, Janelle Monáe, Questlove, Elizabeth Olsen, and Pedro Pascal will be there.
Who has the best chance of winning?
Because of how different they were in previous ceremonies, this year’s winners are the most difficult to predict in a long time.
Analysts predict that Ke Huy Quan, who appeared in Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, will win best-supporting actor.
Otherwise, everything is up in the air. Austin Butler (Elvis) and Brendan Fraser (The Whale) have both won numerous best actor awards at other major events, and either might win the Academy Award.
Cate Blanchett (Tár) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything, Everywhere, Everything at Once) are neck and neck for best actress. Cate Blanchett has been in the lead for some time, but Michelle Yeoh has suddenly gained traction.
Angela Bassett (Wakanda Forever), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), and Jamie Lee Curtis are among the contenders for best supporting actress (Everything Everywhere All At Once).
Who’s performing on the stage?
Rihanna will perform at the Academy Awards one month after her incredible Super Bowl performance. Raise Me Up from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is nominated for best original song, and she plans to perform it.
RRR’s Naatu Naatu is the most likely winner in that category. Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava will perform it at the ceremony.
Son Lux, David Byrne, and Stephanie Hsu will play This Is A Life (from Everything Everywhere All at Once). Diane Warren and Sofia Carson will perform Applause.
Lady Gaga will not perform, even though her song “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick” getting nominated. Instead, she is attending the event, and fans are hoping for an unexpected performance.
